Bingo Blackjack

Introduction

Bingo Blackjack is a game by Draft Kings that pays a multiplier if the player's total achieves a random total from 12 to 21, drawn at the start of the hand. This is paid for by a 20% additional fee per hand.

Rules

I assume the reader already knows the basic blackjack rules. The variable rules are:

  1. Eight decks are used.
  2. Blackjack pays 3 to 2.
  3. Dealer stands on soft 17.
  4. Late surrender allowed.
  5. Player may re-split to up to four hands, except aces may be split once only.
  6. Double after a split allowed.
  7. Dealer peeks for blackjack.

The rules pertaining to the bingo feature are:

  1. The player must pay a "bingo activator" fee each hand. The fee is 20% of the original wager. This fee does not need to be re-paid if the player doubles or splits.
  2. After the bet is made, the game will randomly determine both a multiplier and target.
  3. The possible multipliers are: 2x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x, 100x
  4. The possible targets are all values 12 to 21 inclusive.
  5. The weightings for the multipliers and targets I do not know.
  6. If the player wins with a hand equaling the target, then his wager shall be paid according to multiplier.
  7. If the target is 21, the player shall receive the multiplier with a winning blackjack.
  8. If the player splits, any hand winning with the target shall be paid according to the multiplier.
  9. If the player wins, but on a total other than the target, he shall still be paid 3 to 2 for a blackjack and 1 to 1 for all other wins.

Example

In the hand above, I bet $25, plus the $5 bingo activator fee. The target was 19 and the multiplier was 10x. I was dealt a soft 19, which I stood on. The dealer had a 17. Since my 19 won, I was paid 10 to 1, for a total win of $250, plus the return of my original wager, for a total return of $275.

Strategy

Draft Kings kindly provides the basic strategy to the game by clicking the settings gear and then "pay table." Between ten different targets and six different multipliers, there are a total of 60 different basic strategy tables.

Analysis

Draft Kings kindly discloses that with proper strategy, the return to player is 99.86%.
