In this newsletter, we resume our look at the art of Burning Man 2022. My newsletter of September 29 on art ran too long, so I broke it into two parts, this being the second.
The Vagina Throne.This one also looked much better at night. Night photography at Burning Man I find to be very difficult.Here is another example of the seating available at many of the art installations. One thing I dislike about conventional museums is there is so little seating.Sometimes a piece speaks for itself.This is one of many horses, I think each made by a different material, in this installation.This one was amazing. It had two above-ground levels to explore, with little rooms and art in each tower. It reminded me of the Channelwood age in Myst (the one with the treehouses).Here is an example of the art inside the last structure pictured. This is the kind of detail are all over the inside of art installations large enough to enter.This is a library. Note the walls are decorated with pages from books.My kids never were very interested in alphabet blocks. They were the order of the day when I was little.I can’t think of a good comment about this one.The Statue of Liberty’s torch?
In closing, I’d like to plug two of my favorites that I visited while I didn’t have my camera with me:
Paraluna. This one was an enormous disk with colorful images playing to classical music. I enjoyed laying face-up in the dirt under the disk for a long time, as did many others.
