A Recap of Games from Week 8 of the 2019-2020 NFL Season
Introduction
Week eight in the NFL displayed a lot of what we already knew about many of the teams as they simply just reinforced those opinions. There is still half a season left for many things to change, and hopefully they will in order to create more excitement around the league.

The Minnesota Vikings continued their winning ways as they won their fourth straight game. Once again, they relied upon a great performance from the very consistent, Dalvin Cook, who had around 170 all purpose yards as well as another touchdown. Stefon Diggs racked up 143 yards through the pass game, and his speed often left him wide open downfield making him an easy target for Kirk Cousins.
The Vikings did have a set back though as their star wide receiver Adam Thielen left the game with a hamstring injury. The Washington Redskin’s superstar and all time great running back, Adrian Peterson, moved up to the sixth spot on the list of the NFL’s career rushing leaders. The Redskins do not have a whole lot more to be happy about as they are 1-7 half way through the 2019 – 2020 NFL season.

The Philadelphia Eagles did what they needed to do on Sunday and get the much-needed win. The Buffalo Bills previously only had one loss to the New England Patriots, but they weak schedule may be the reason behind their early success in the 2019 – 2020 NFL season. The Eagles played well defensively, and used their rushing attack to dominate this game. Philadelphia will need to beat the struggling Chicago Bears next week to keep their season heading in the right direction.

Chicago Bears at Philadelphia Eagles

The Chicago Bears are truly struggling to turn their downward spiral of a season around. They are losing games like this that they should have definitely won. In fact, the Bears missed a field goal to win the game on the last play of the contest. Mitch Trubisky continues to miss throws that he should easily be able to make, and the Bears offense may need to make a change at the quarterback position soon before their season slips away if it hasn’t already. The Los Angeles Chargers are simply not a very good team, and they will definitely have their hands full with the dominant Green Bay Packers this upcoming weekend.
Week 9 Games
Chicago Bears at Philadelphia Eagles
Green Bay Packers at Los Angeles Chargers

RUSH

The Detroit Lions snapped their three game winning streak by beating the New York Giants on Sunday. Matthew Stafford had a solid game with 342 passing yards and three touchdowns, and Kenny Golladay played extremely well with his 123 yards through the air and two touchdown receptions.
The Lions have the potential to climb back and make a playoff push if they eliminate mistakes and continue to stay in ball games against quality opponents. The New York Giants on the other hand are doing what they should be in developing their rookie quarterback Daniel Jones, and hope that they will become competitive in the future as they do not stand much of a chance this season.
Week 9 Games
Detroit Lions at Oakland Raiders
Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants (MNF)
FINAL
Buccaneers (2-5, 2-2 Away) 23
Titans (4-4, 2-2 Home) 27

RUSH
Derrick Henry - TEN
16 CAR, 75 YDS
REC
Mike Evans - TB
11 REC, 198 YDS, 2 TD
The Tennessee Titans good defense won them this game as they turned the ball over four times and stopped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers end of the game push to put up points. The Titans are quietly having an alright year, but they most likely will not make much noise and shock the world this season. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a lot of changes needed if they want to turn things around. It seems that Jameis Winston may not be the answer as he doesn’t protect the football enough and is wildly inconsistent.
Week 9 Games
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Seattle Seahawks
Tennessee Titans at Carolina Panthers

Adam Vinatieri had a very interesting game. He missed a 45 yard field goal early on in the game as well as an extra point to tie the game in the third quarter, but when the game was on the line with 22 seconds left on the clock the most clutch NFL kicker of all time came through. He drilled a 51 yard field goal to secure the come from behind win for the Indianapolis Colts over the Denver Broncos. This game was not very exciting, but a win is a win. The Colts are now sitting at 5-2 this season, and they are gearing up for a possible playoff run even without having the services of the recently retired quarterback, Andrew Luck.
Week 9 Games
Indianapolis Colts at Pittsburgh Steelers
Cleveland Browns at Denver Broncos

This game was played at Wembley Stadium in London, and it was as expected another loss for the winless Cincinnati Bengals. The Los Angeles Rams led by their quarterback Jared Goff and wide receiver Cooper Kupp took it to the suffering Bengals. Kupp had an astonishing 220 yards receiving along with a touchdown reception while Goff put up a solid 372 yards passing as well as a couple of touchdowns. Look for the Rams to try and contest for a wild card spot in the NFC towards the end of the 2019 – 2020 NFL season.

Michael Thomas - NO
11 REC, 112 YDS, 1 TD
The New Orleans Saints continued to roll winning their sixth consecutive football game. Drew Brees returned as the starting quarterback for the Saints after his thumb surgery several weeks ago, and he had an outstanding performance coming off that injury. Brees threw for 373 yards and three touchdowns. Latavius Murray did another stellar job filling in for the banged up Alvin Kamara, and Michael Thomas continues to impress as one of the best wide receivers in the league. New Orleans was simply too much for the young and inexperienced Arizona Cardinals.

The New York Jets continuously demonstrate their inability to play efficient and well executed football. The Jacksonville Jaguars had a decent game with Garner Minshew II leading the way with 279 passing yards and throwing for three touchdowns. The San Francisco 49ers keep on rolling right along by putting up a massive 51 points on the decent Carolina Panthers. The Niners Jimmy Garoppolo did his job going 18 for 22 with 175 passing yards as well as 2 touchdown throws.
San Francisco’s defense put their foot down on the Panthers as they help their opponent to a hard fought 13 points. Nick Bosa is looking like a candidate for defensive player of the year in his amazing rookie campaign while, Tevin Coleman, racked up four touchdowns in the win. San Francisco remains one of the only two undefeated teams in the NFL, and they keep on showing the world they should not be doubted anymore.

The Cleveland Browns entered the season with so much hype, and they just keep on disappointing by making careless mistakes and losing ball games. The New England Patriots defense keeps on making unbelievable plays and puts their offensive in the position to win contests. Deshaun Watson played really well as he usually does especially at the end of the game when he goes out and carries his team on his shoulders for the win. Watson finished the game with three touchdown passes. The Houston Texans did end up losing their superstar defensive end J.J. Watt to injury which will sideline him for the remainder of this football season. The Oakland Raiders fought hard, but came up short with the final score of 27-24 in favor of the Texans.

This was a good game, and who knows how it would have ended up if the Kansas City Chiefs had their young superstar quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. The Green Bay Packers had another jaw dropping performance as they stayed red hot in their win against the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. Aaron Rodgers continued to show how great he is with the ball by throwing for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. Aaron Jones had a spectacular game on the ground as well as in the air. He finished with over 200 total yards and two touchdowns catches of his own.

The Miami Dolphins came out and started very strong on Monday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers. They were able to score a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter in a season where they struggle mightily to score at all. Unfortunately for the Dolphins they were shut out the rest of the game. The Pittsburgh Steelers had some really nice big plays downfield to their wide outs and James Connor had a big game with around 150 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown. The Miami Dolphins remain winless as they are 0-7 through the first half of the 2019 – 2020 season.

New York Jets at Miami Dolphins
