Chicago White Sox OF Eloy Jimenez Hospitalized this Week due to Appendectomy
Introduction
On Saturday, May 6th, 2023 the Chicago White Sox designated hitter (D. H.) Eloy Jimenez was hospitalized due to extreme abdominal pain, and he apparently underwent an appendectomy to remedy the issue.
Jimenez Diagnosed with Acute Appendicitis
Jiménez began experiencing some abdominal pain on the night of Friday, May 5th, 2023 that continued to intensify as time progressed. Eloy was said to have been admitted to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio where he was eventually diagnosed with acute appendicitis. Jimenez was anticipated to be discharged from the Good Samaritan Hospital on Saturday night.

"It's taken care of now," the Chicago White Sox manager, Pedro Grifol, explained following the Chicago White Sox game last Saturday night. "He will be out for a little bit. We heard (the diagnosis) in the middle of the game. Those things are scary. He'll be back as soon as possible."
"Anytime you have to go in with abdominal pain, it is scary," Grifol went on say earlier last Saturday, May 6th, 2023. "I talked to him this morning, and he said it hurt when he moves. It intensified a little bit."
This unfortunate situation could not have come at a worse time for the Chicago White Sox as well as Eloy Jimenez. The Chicago White Sox have been struggling hard and playing poor baseball so far during the 2023 Major League Baseball season after a promising last year or so.
Jimenez was one of the bright spots for the Chicago White Sox so far this season, but he will now be out for the next upcoming 4 to 6 - weeks. Hopefully the Chicago White Sox can turn around their season as soon as possible, and avoid other injuries or potential downfalls.
Recent Hitting Streak
Jimenez was just previously on his season - high 8 - game hitting streak following his 1 - for - 4 performance last Friday, May 5th, 2023 as he managed to hit a single and strikeout twice in the Chicago White Sox last Friday night’s 5 to 4 over the Cincinnati Reds in Cincinnati. Eloy went 3 - for - 5 with a home run as well as 3 - RBIs on last Thursday, May 4th, 2023.
