A Recap of all the Games from Week 14 of the 2019-2020 NFL Season
Introduction
With only 3 weeks left in the 2019 – 2020 season in the National Football League, teams are beginning to claim playoff spots while others are scratching and surviving to make the NFL postseason. Can’t wait to see how the NFL playoffs landscape develops.

The Chicago Bears and Mitchell Trubisky have returned to form, and lately they are looking like the dominant team that easily made the playoffs last season. Trubisky threw three touchdown passes while running the ball in for another touchdown. Allen Robinson has also been performing extremely well for the Bears especially over the last few weeks. On the other side of the ball the struggling Dallas Cowboys can’t buy a win lately. With their offensive star power, they should be finding the end zone more and putting their defense out on the field less. They are in a fight with the Philadelphia Eagles to win the extremely weak NFC East division. One of those two bad team (Dallas / Philadelphia) has to win that division and make the NFL playoffs this season.

The Carolina Panthers have now completely unraveled. They recently fired their head coach, Ron Rivera, after 9 seasons of leading their team into battle. Cam Newton is nowhere near ready to return to the way he played several years back before his serious injuries, and Kyle Allen is not the answer at quarterback for Carolina. The Atlanta Falcons really turned it on in the second half and turned this game into a blowout by the end. Hopefully the 2020 – 2021 NFL season will be better for both of these football teams as they are done for this season.

The Baltimore Ravens clinched a playoff spot in the AFC with this victory over the Buffalo Bills. However, the leading MVP candidate, Lamar Jackson, slightly injured his quad. He claims he will be good to go in the next game against the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football. The Buffalo Bills put up a valiant effort, but let’s also not forget how tight the Ravens defense is as well. Right now, the Bills are in a Wild Card spot in the NFL postseason, but there are a few teams trailing them by a game or two with three games left to play for all.

Congratulations to the Cleveland Browns for defeating the 1 and 12 Cincinnati Bengals. The Browns will most likely not make the playoffs this season which is a big disappointment for anyone involved with that organization. With all the hype surrounding Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham Jr. prior to this season they both have highly underperformed this year on the gridiron. The Cincinnati Bengals should be competing for that number one draft pick this April so it would not be surprising to see them loss out the rest of this season to get that number one overall draft selection.

The Green Bay Packers are lucky they got off to a big lead against the worthless Washington Redskins because the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears are fighting it out hard for the playoffs in the very competitive NFC North. Rodgers didn’t have his best game, but Aaron Jones performed well in this one. Jones finished with just under 200 all purpose yards and a touchdown run. The game this Sunday against the Chicago Bears will be tough game as always for the Packers.

The Minnesota Vikings looked pretty good last weekend against the Detroit Lions, but who doesn’t look good against Detroit! Kirk Cousins has been playing decent the last handful of games so it will be interesting to see how the Vikings end up doing over the last three games of the 2019 – 2020 NFL regular season. They are counting on Delvin Cook being healthy for them to be at their best down the stretch.

The San Francisco 49ers are looking like a Super Bowl contender as they continue to roll with a huge win on the road against the powerful New Orleans Saints. This was a close game and one of the best from week 14 in the NFL. Jimmy Garoppolo had arguably his best game of the year with his 4 touchdown passes. The last TD pass he had late in the game to George Kittle proved to be a game winning throw. Emmanuel Sanders has absolutely been blowing it up since he was acquired by San Francisco mid season. He finished this game with an impressive 157 yards and a touchdown reception as well. This match up between the Niners and Saints could be a potential playoff game so this was a good test for both teams.

This was simply a bad game between two very bad teams. Sam Ficken kicked a 44 yard field goal as time expired to give the New York Jets the win over the Miami Dolphins. Both of these teams are playing strictly for pride as their season was over a long time ago. Robby Anderson of the Jets had a solid performance with his 116 yards throw the air attack and a touchdown catch to go along with that.

Jameis Winston rallied his team to a win with his 4 touchdowns and 456 yards passing, but I feel like he either throws 4 touchdowns and wins or he throws 4 interceptions and loses. His inconsistency is a big issue and I wonder how many more seasons the Tampa Bay Buccaneers want to stick with his as their starting quarterback. Indy is seemingly falling apart down the stretch and I don’t think they will be able to make the playoffs this year in the AFC.

The Denver Broncos watched and saw Drew Lock light it up once again. Ever since he has been getting game time, he has been spectacular and last Sunday was no different. The rookie QB passed for 309 yards and three touchdown tosses. The Houston Texans need to be winning games like this is they expect to be playing in the postseason come this January. They seem to be deteriorating down the stretch of the regular season, and now the Texans find themselves on the cusp or bubble to make the playoffs in the AFC this year. That game between Houston and Tennessee this Sunday will be huge for both teams that are currently sitting at 8 and 5.

The Los Angeles Chargers smoked the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. Philip Rivers had a good game finally as he threw for 314 yards on 16 completions to go along with his 3 touchdown throws. Austin Ekeler had 213 all purpose yards as well as a touchdown reception. The Jacksonville Jaguars are an absolute mess. It will be interesting to see how they come back next year.

The Oakland Raiders continue their slide backwards as they get beat again this time by the Tennessee Titans. Next year Jon Gruden and the Raiders will make their debut in Las Vegas as their hometown, and they will have the tough decision whether or not to stick with Derek Carr or move in another direction with their starting quarterback. It seems that they found a lot of good talent through the NFL draft last April as they look to turn things around as the Las Vegas Raiders beginning next season.

Kansas City has been relying on their defense for help lately, and this game vs. the New England Patriots was no different. The Chiefs clinched the AFC West last Sunday when Bashaud Breeland knocked away Tom Brady's 4th down passing attempt while targeting Julian Edelman in the end zone. Kansas City beat New England 23 to 16 and are now looking to gain home field advantage throughout the playoffs in the AFC over the last few weeks of the regular season. For the Patriots they are in turmoil as they look very beatable these days, and they are dealing with a controversial violation for filming the Cincinnati Bengals. The NFL is investigating this matter at the moment.

After beginning the 2019 – 2020 NFL season with a string of loses the Pittsburgh Steelers have found ways to win a bunch of games and are looking to make a push to the postseason. Mike Tomlin and his Steelers have done a phenomenal job of handling losing their best players to trades, free agency, and a whole bunch of injuries to be at 8 and 5 right now is absolutely amazing. Kyler Murray is having an average rookie season for a quarterback coming into the NFL as the first overall draft selection this past April. It will be interesting to see how he does next year.

The Los Angeles stayed in the playoff race with a win that ended the Seattle Seahawks 5 game winning streak. Jared Goff looked better as he passed for 293 yards and 2 touchdown throws. Todd Gurley did his part on the ground game with 79 yards and a rushing TD. Whoever Tyler Higbee is he took care of catching 7 balls for 116 yards to help LA take down the red hot Seattle Seahawks. The game this week between the Los Angeles Rams and Dallas Cowboys has a lot of playoff implications so I look forward to watching that match up in week 15 of the NFL regular season.

The Philadelphia Eagles really needed this win to keep their season alive and it did not look good for the Eagles early on. They ended up fighting off Eli Manning and the New York Giants to win the game 23 to 17. Now they need to win out and they should make the 2019 – 2020 NFL postseason. The question for New York is Eli Manning done for good there? Most likely he is after a solid career of winning when it mattered most.
Week 15 Games
Miami Dolphins at New York Giants
Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins
