A Recap of all the Games from Week 16 of the 2019-2020 NFL Season
Introduction
Now that we are 16 weeks into the 2019 – 2020 NFL schedule the majority of the playoff spots have been locked down. The NFC East will be decided after week seventeen as well as the wild card teams and overall playoff seedings for the 2019 – 2020 NFL postseason. It will be great to see how everything shakes out after the final week of the regular season of the National Football League.

The Houston Texans have clinched the AFC South division, and they will play a decisive contest in the wild card round of the playoffs against an opponent that is yet to be determined. The Houston Texans relentless defense came to play pulling five turnovers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and just when they need him J.J. Watt is expected to make his return from injury just in time for the NFL postseason. Tampa Bay will need to figure out how to slow down the turnover machine in their quarterback Jameis Winston next year as he consistently forces the ball downfield most often in the arms of the opposing defense.
Week 17 Games
Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans
Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
FINAL
Bills (10-5, 6-2 Away) 17
Patriots (12-3, 6-1 Home) 24

Sony Michel - NE

Cole Beasley - BUF

Don’t count Tom Brady and those cheating Patriots out of any playoff bracket. They are not satisfied and are far from having their best team out on the field compared to what we are used to, but they still won 12 and possible 13 regular season games this year. It is possible New England will face the Buffalo Bills this NFL postseason so this close game that could have went either way may favor the Bills the next time they do match up. In my opinion the Patriot’s chances of success lay on the shoulders of Julian Edelman as well as their reliable defense.
Week 17 Games
New York Jets at Buffalo Bills
Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots
FINAL
Rams (8-7, 4-4 Away) 31
49ers (12-3, 6-2 Home) 34

Robert Woods - LAR
8 REC, 117 YDS
With San Francisco winning this game they single handedly eliminated their divisional rival in the Los Angeles Rams. Jared Goff’s 323 yards and 2 passing touchdowns were not enough to get the job done for the Rams last Sunday. Emmanuel Sanders has really turned it on since he joined the 49ers mid season. He came up big in this match up when he was targeted and hit by Jimmy Garoppolo for a key 46 yard pass reception. George Kittle continues to perform at an All Pro level as San Francisco looks to make a presence in the NFL’s playoff landscape. The Niners have cemented themselves as one of the elite front runners in the top heavy NFC.
Week 17 Games
San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks (SNF)
Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams
FINAL
Jaguars (5-10, 3-5 Away) 12
Falcons (6-9, 3-5 Home) 24

Matt Ryan - ATL

RUSH
Leonard Fournette - JAX
15 CAR, 71 YDS
REC
Julio Jones - ATL
10 REC, 166 YDS
The Atlanta Falcons scored two touchdowns early on in this one giving them a lead that the Jacksonville Jaguars could not overcome. Matt Ryan and Julio Jones shined for the Falcons connecting on 10 occasions for over 160 yards. The Jags will have a busy offseason of picking up the broken pieces of this troubled franchise. They dumped Tom Coughlin, but it will not be as easy to dump Nick Foles huge deal he signed less than a year ago. Atlanta has to decide whether to keep rolling with their veteran old timers or start to move their focus on some new age younger talent. Both of these organizations have some thinking to do prior to the 2020 – 2021 NFL season.
Week 17 Games
Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars
FINAL
Ravens (13-2, 7-1 Away) 31
Browns (6-9, 4-4 Home) 15

RUSH
Lamar Jackson - BAL
17 CAR, 103 YDS
REC
Mark Andrews - BAL
6 REC, 93 YDS, 2 TD
Lamar Jackson does it once again as he connects on three touchdowns two of which were to his tight end Mark Andrews who had his best game of the year last Sunday. The Baltimore Ravens look dangerous as they head into the playoffs with about as much momentum as possible. The Cleveland Browns continue to shake their heads and hold their arms in air as they don’t know what happened to this season. They heavily underperformed in 2019, and they better regroup as this group can’t afford to play this poorly again next year. The Baltimore Ravens have clinched home field advantage throughout the AFC postseason so look for them to rest some of their key players this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Week 17 Games
Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals
Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens
FINAL
Saints (12-3, 6-1 Away) 38
Titans (8-7, 4-4 Home) 28

Drew Brees - NO

RUSH
Alvin Kamara - NO
11 CAR, 80 YDS, 2 TD
REC
Michael Thomas - NO
12 REC, 136 YDS, 1 TD
As Drew Brees and Michael Thomas make their way into the NFL’s record books the New Orleans Saints strive to achieve bigger goals. After last year ending in major disappointment against the Los Angeles Rams on a controversial call in the NFC championship game the boys from the bayou look to capitalize this year. The Saints look to lock in that number one spot in the NFC postseason while the Tennessee Titans believe it or not are still fighting for their playoff possibilities. It seems like the Titans or the Pittsburgh Steelers will somehow gain a birth in the AFC bracket. It is highly unlikely either one of these teams will do any damage in the NFL Postseason this January.
Week 17 Games
Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans
New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers
FINAL
Panthers (5-10, 3-5 Away) 6
Colts (7-8, 5-3 Home) 38

15 REC, 119 YDS
This game was over before it started as the Indianapolis Colts steam rolled the Carolina Panthers without much of a fight from the discouraged Panthers that are in total turmoil since the halfway point of the 2019 – 2020 season. The Colts will not be making the postseason either so not much else to say here.
Week 17 Games
New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers
Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Miami Dolphins squeaked out a close one in overtime against the worthless Cincinnati Bengals last weekend. Both of these two teams were never in the playoff hunt from the beginning of this NFL regular season, and in fact they were both tanking to try and acquire a high draft pick come April of 2020.
Week 17 Games
Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals
Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots

The New York Jets played the part of the spoiler as they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, but Pittsburgh still has a fighting chance to make the playoffs as a wild card team depending on what occurs the final week of the regular season (week 17). The Steelers play the mighty tough Baltimore Ravens this week, although the Ravens have clinched everything possible at this point and may be laying down and taking a dirt nap. That would keep the door wide open for the Steelers to keep their playoffs dreams alive.
Week 17 Games
Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens
New York Jets at Buffalo Bills
FINAL/OT
Giants (4-11, 2-6 Away) 41
Redskins (3-12, 1-7 Home) 35

Golden Tate - NYG

Daniel Jones had a nice welcoming back party for the New York Giants as the rookie quarterback slanged 5 touchdowns in this game. The only problem is that it came against the worst team in the worst division in the NFL at the moment. The struggling Washington Redskins are far from a playoff team, and hopefully they can help themselves out with a solid selection early on in this April’s upcoming draft. Both the Giants and Skins do play big part in deciding how the NFC East is won as the Cowboys and Eagles are fighting for that crown come Sunday.
Week 17 Games
Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys
Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants

The Denver Broncos beat the Detroit Lions 27 to 17, but this game carries no implications for either side. The Lions will play their last game this season against the Green Bay Packers who have already clinched the NFC North Division, but the Pack are looking to lock up homefield advantage in the NFL playoffs making that game somewhat valuable.
Week 17 Games
Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions
Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos

Another meaningless game between the LA Chargers and the Oakland Raiders. Once the Raiders play Denver next year that will mark the last game that they represent the city of Oakland as the Raiders will be playing home to Las Vegas come the 2020 – 2021 NFL season. The Chargers are looking to spoil Kansas City’s hopes to gain home field advantage in the playoffs come January.
Week 17 Games
Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos
Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs

All the Dallas Cowboys needed to do was beat the Eagles of Philadelphia to earn the division championship in the weak NFC East. The Eagles took care of business with a victory keeping their postseason ambitions alive. Now the games for both the Cowboys and Eagles this week have big weight. Someone has to win that lousy division. Both of them face bottom of the barrel NFC opponents this Sunday.

The Seattle Seahawks have seemingly taken their foot off the gas towards the end of the 2019 – 2020 NFL regular season. Now in their last effort they got smoked by the 5 and 9 Arizona Cardinals. Although Seattle has clinched a playoff berth, the NFC West is still up for grabs currently. The San Francisco 49ers are just one game up with one game to go. Good watch as they face each other on Sunday Night Football!

Kansas City rolled the underperforming and eliminated Chicago Bears. They look great heading into the postseason. They should be a top AFC contender along with the Baltimore Ravens. Patrick Mahomes seemed to be at full strength throwing for 251 yards and a couple of nice touchdown passes. This may be the Chiefs year! Chicago wake up and smell the coffee!
Week 17 Games
Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs
Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings
FINAL

The Green Bay Packers beat the Minnesota Vikings on the last Monday Night Football game of this season which locked up the NFC North division for GB. The Vikings are still going to make the playoffs as a wild card team that is mildly dangerous. Green Bay may have to play Minnesota three times this year!
Week 17 Games
Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings
Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions
