  • The Minnesota Twins win their first World Series championship defeating the St. Louis Cardinals, 4 games to 3 in 84th World Series.

October 26th, 1951

  • In the 8th round Rocky Marciano knocks out Joe Louis at Madison Square Garden, New York.

October 27th, 2004

  • The Boston Red Sox win the MLB World Series for the first time since 1918 by beating the St. Louis Cardinals in four games.

October 28th, 1989

  • The Oakland Athletics sweep the San Francisco Giants to win the MLB World Series.

October 29th, 1960

  • Cassius Clay also known as Muhammad Ali has his first professional fight as he beats Tunney Hunsaker in six rounds.

October 30th, 1974

  • The "Rumble in the Jungle" boxing match between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman takes place in Kinshasa, Zaire. Muhammad Ali ultimately knocks out George Foreman in the 8th round of the fight.

October 31st, 1943

  • Sammy Baugh of the Washington Redskins throws six touchdown passes to defeat Brooklyn 48 – 10.
