- The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the three time defending World Series Champion New York Yankees in seven games to win their first baseball World Series Championship ever.

- Chicago Bears' 30 game unbeaten streak ends as the Chicago Bears lost to the Boston Redskins with a final score of 10 to 0.
