- Joe DiMaggio adheres to the advice of Ty Cobb and replaces his 40 ounce bat with a 36 ounce bat which payed dividends for the New York Yankee great.

- University of Kentucky defeats Duke University 94 to 88 to win the 40th NCAA men’s college basketball tournament championship.
March 28th, 1977
- Marquette University beats University of North Carolina 67 to 59 to win the 39th NCAA men’s college basketball tournament championship.
